I am a woman age 25 years, currently in a relationship with a man. The father of the man suffering from asthma. I would like to know more about the disease. Many people say that asthma is a hereditary disease. I want to ask:
- Is it just a myth?
- If the parents have asthma, then children would suffer from asthma?
Answer:
Asthma is divided into two kinds: asthma bronchiale and asthma cardiale. The main symptom of asthma cardiale  is shortness of breath caused by heart disease. While asthma bronchiale is signed by shortness of breath caused by abnormalities of the airways or bronchi. Bronchial asthma disease is also called “asthma” because the patients sufferer from shortness of breath and a patognomonic breathing sounds.
While asthma bronchiale caused by a narrowing of the airways so that the air hole breathing hard through it. The narrowing is caused by the respiratory muscles have seizures or spasms (respiratory muscles that form a circle), thickening the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract and the amount of mucus or fluid that accumulated in the respiratory tract.
Which asthma are you referring to? Asthma cardiale found in patients with severe heart problem, and asthma is not decreased at all and of course  is not a hereditary. So the asthma suffered by your boyfriend’s parents is probably the bronchial asthma.
Assuming that my answer is:
- The notion that bronchial asthma is a hereditary disease is not entirely true. 10-20% of bronchial asthma due to allergic factors are allergic to substances from outside the body such as pollens, flowers, dust, wool, cold air and so on. Therefore this type of asthma called extrinsic asthma. More than 50% of bronchial asthma caused by factors from within the body itself (infection, irritation, stress and emotions) and asthma are caused intrinsic asthma. So most of the causes of asthma because of “acquired” and not absolute because of heredity.
- No. Parents who suffer from bronchial asthma asthmatic offspring is not necessarily such. It could even be that no child shall suffer from the disease and vice versa.
