Marijuana cures cancer

Marijuana cures cancer

If you were a politician and I asked you which one these substances would you legalize

Substance A that can cure cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, Epilepsy, Multiple sclerosis, Glaucoma Arthritis, Depression, Anxiety, Hepatitis C, Morning sickness, AIDS

or

Substance B that cures nothing but causes lung cancer, mouth cancer, heart attacks, asthma, ?

Well if your answer is the same as mine, legalize substance A and ban substance B, then you just Legalized marijuana and banned Tobbaco. :)

This is the world we live in where the cause of problems are legal and the cure is illegal.

Funny this is people don’t even know why it’s banned, they think it’s cause drug use in general is bad.

As an Indian, I was shocked to know that cannabis is banned in India despite Bhang being a Hindu tradition.

Here are some facts, I wanna share which will clear any misconception, I got these articles from educational and government websites so as to not quote any unknown or unverified source.

What is Marijuana ?
It’s a plant and the primary compound in marijuana is THC,
THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is the chemical responsible for most of marijuana’s psychological effects. THC changes behavior by binding — fitting together like a lock and key — to receptors on nerve cells, which then respond with a change in activity

Cannabinoid receptors are concentrated in certain areas of the brain associated with thinking, memory, pleasure, coordination and time perception. There are also cannabinoid receptors on nerves in other parts of the body. THC relieves pain, but it doesn’t bind to the same receptors in the brain as opioids such as heroine, morphine and other drugs derived from the poppy plant.

THC stimulates cells in the brain to release dopamine, creating euphoria. It also interferes with how information is processed in the hippocampus, which is part of the brain responsible for forming new memories. THC can induce hallucinations, change thinking and cause delusions. These effects of marijuana make it a popular drug, but they also concern mental health advocates. THC can trigger a relapse in schizophrenic symptoms, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse. [source:livesciencejournal]

Is it approved by any leading cancer Authority ?

Cancer Council NSW acknowledges that cannabis may be of medical benefit to cancer patients where conventional treatments are unsuccessful, in the following circumstances:

in relieving nausea and vomiting in patients undergoing chemotherapy;
as an adjunctive analgesic in patients with moderate to severe pain; and/or
as an appetite stimulant for cancer patients experiencing weight loss and   muscle wasting.

It is even approve by the FDA and can be legally consumed in America

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved medical use of isolated components of the marijuana plant such as THC, the active ingredient in marijuana and related synthetic compounds.  Dronabinol is one synthetically produced compound used in the FDA-approved medicine Marinol (a Schedule III drug).  Marinol is legally available by prescription from physicians for patients who suffer from pain and chronic illnesses such as cancer and AIDS.  Another FDA-approved medicine, Cesamet, contains the active ingredient Nabilone (a Schedule II drug), which has a chemical structure similar to THC.  And Sativex, an oromucosal spray approved in Canada, the UK, and other parts of Europe for the treatment of multiple sclerosis spasticity and cancer pain, is currently in late-stage clinical trials with the FDA.  It combines THC and another active ingredient in marijuana, cannabidiol (CBD), and provides therapeutic benefits without the “high” from the drug.
